First Day Jitters

Today was my first official day of work at my new job. Those of you that don't know, I was blessed with the opportunity to start at a new school. I am now a teacher of 3-5 year olds with developmental delays. We have an adjusted schedule, so we go all year long, with week-long--- three-week long breaks throughout the year. Today was the start of our summer session and my official first day.

Surprisingly, I was able to sleep last night. I went to bed thinking that I was going to be up all night with anticipation of the pending day. But, to my surprise, I fell asleep pretty quickly and slept like a rock :-) I awoke today, well rested, and excited to begin this new chapter.

I met my assistant today- she is great. I am looking forward to getting to know her better and working with her and the kids. I have a really small class for now- but I expect the number of students to grow rapidly. It's weird- I find it more exhausting to work 1:1 with a student than to work with a group of them.

I had every intention of going running on my way home from work, but the weather didn't cooperate and I got side-tracked after school so it took me longer to leave than I anticipated. I must get better about staying focused and not getting sidetracked. With the new job, I have some personal goals that I want to accomplishl:

1. I want to life weights/strength train more regularly- meaning 3x-4x/week
2. I want to walk or run 5x/week
3. I want to go hiking on the weekends
4. I want to take better care of my health/diet. The hubby and I are starting on a journey of our own (trying to have a baby), and I want to make sure that I do everything I can to ensure the health of future baby.

Have a happy Monday!
