Cloth Diapering

Hubby and I decided awhile ago that we were going to cloth diaper. I feel like I have done a ton of research, and now it seems like some of the information is getting all jumbled in my mushy pregnancy brain! As of last weekend, we had purchased only a few cloth diapers. We got one from Babies R Us, a few from a cloth diapering store in Lancaster, and a few from a great deal that hubby found online- I think it was like $40 for 4 diapers and some disposable liners. We had a total of about 10. We had 1 BumGenius one size and 2 BumGenius newborns, 4 Bumkins, 3 Best Bottom covers with small and medium insters for each, and 1 Thirsties. We were given 2 more BumGenius at our shower and 2 Grovia covers.

Well, on Friday, I went to a few consignment stores and a huge consignment sale with my mom in New Jersey. At the consignment sale, I scored 7 cloth diapers for less than $6.50 per diaper! I walked away with 1 Bumkins, 3 Charlie Bananas, 1 Fuzzibunz, 1 Little Monsters (does that ring any bells with you?) and 1 Sunbaby (again, I am not familiar). I was so excited! Then, yesterday, Hubby and I stopped at a local consignment store near us and I scored 6 gDiaper covers with about 12 small inserts and 12 medium inserts, as well as 1.75 packages of disposable liners, all for just $10!

I feel like I now am addicted to looking at and buying cloth diapers. Three are still some that I want to get- some prefold a and random covers, but in am going to try and hold off until .baby Hennessey is born to see what we like best- style wise (pockets, hook and loop, snaps, covers with inserts, etc.)

  3. That's an awesome find!!! I registered for bumGenius 4.0's and I got 21, so plenty for us to start out! It's nice though that you have different kinds to try and see what you like best. Everyone know who does cloth is in BG. Oh and Synbabys are a 'China cheapie' brand. They retail for around 6-8/ diaper. Some like them bc of their price point, but I have yet to try that kind.

    1. We registered for about 3-4 different kinds and then have randomly gotten some different brands. I think I am going to like the AIO pockets best, especially for other people who will be watching her or changing her, but I know that May change once we try them all out! I've never heard of the Synbabys before... I'd be interested in seeing how they hold up at that price point.
