#Naptime Pursuits: Cotton Bottom Pants

As I have posted numerous times before, we are a cloth diapering family, and loving every second of it, with no regrets. That being said, I will admit that pants typically have to be sized up, or swapped out for different style pants.

Because of Baby Girl's fluff butt, she has been wearing sized-up pants pretty much since 1 month old. We have also had issues with "leggings" because they are too tight and they ride up into the leg crevice, wicking away the wetness. I stumbled upon this pattern a month ago, and made a couple pairs of these pants. So far, I have made the "newborn" size and the "size 1".

The best thing about these pants- they grow with Baby Girl. This means that "size 1" will fit her from now until about 3 years old. Her "newborn" pants should fit her a few more months, and there is another size that I can make that should fit her from 1-5 years. Basically, the pants and the waist band roll to provide additional length. These pants are also awesome for babywearing families. When you are wearing your baby, pants inevitably ride up and the pant legs are then too short. This especially becomes a problem during winter months when it's so cold.

Following the holidays, I scored some awesome material at JoAnn's to make additional pants at $1.50/yard. I bought 1 yard of each, for enough material to make 6 pairs. Obviously, all 6 will not be for us, but I have some friends with babies due, and friends that use cloth diapers that I will be giving some of these pants too. They definitely are a "life saver" for the cloth diapering babe.

I completed these pants over 2 different nap times because they were 2 short naps. If Baby Girl was taking a long nap, I would have been able to complete them in 1... but those long naps seem to be on the way out, sadly.

    1. I never even thought that would be an issue until I experienced the leaks from compression of baby leggings...all that seems to exist in stores!
